War against land grabbers confined to Janipur only
11/16/2006 11:13:11 PM

Jammu,Nov 16
It seems that state government's much publicised war against land grabbers has been confined to small plot holders in Janipur area where about 20 families had purchased 3 marlas of land and constructed houses after securing permission from Jammu Devlopment Authority ,Municipal corportion and other concerned agencies.

On Thursday, these poor families received a notice by the JDA directing them to vacate their houses by Sunday. Each family had invested about Rs 4 lakh-5 lakh on the constructionof these houses.Somraj head of oneof the affected families told Kashmir Independent Press," why this notice has been issued," he said.
"We believe that the government is simply harassing small plot holders in order to show that state governments war against land grabbers is going on in full fury".
Another member of the affected family said that if the JDA was insistent on vacating their houses the government should fully compensate them.
I have sold my gold ornaments and also rasied a laon from th bank for constructing two room and if we are forced to vacate where would we go,an elderly lady wanted to know. (KIP)
