Bhalla reviews progress of R&B works, visits Gangyal

JAMMU, April 18:
Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today convened a meeting of Roads and Buildings (R&B) department officers and reviewed progress of development works under PMGSY, CRF and NABARD sectors.
Addressing the officers, Bhalla said Government has earmarked Rs 1.6 crore for construction of 1-km long Doongian road and Rs 2.37 crore for 4-km long Beermeni-Rati Salarian link road.
Regarding construction of Additional accommodation in Narwal Bala, Kerayani Talab and Gorkha Nagar schools, the Minister said the students of these schools are facing lot of difficulties due to shortage of rooms. He directed completion of ongoing construction works in double shifts. He asked the officers to work in co-ordination with other allied departments so that the works could be completed well in time.
Bhalla said that centre has approved Rs. 70 crore for expansion and upgradation of Jammu airport terminal building, adding after expansion it would enhance passenger-handling capacity to 700 passengers. He said Government has also identified the site for rehabilitation of people who are likely to be displaced after Jammu airport expansion at Rakh Raipur. He said Government has accorded sanction to the transfer of Irrigation and Flood Control department land measuring 58 kanals 8 marlas on the left side of main Ranbir canal at RD 26465M in village Rakh Raipur for the rehabilitation purpose. He said instructions were issued to the people not to start any construction within 50 feet of the canal area.
Earlier, the Minister visited Gangyal and inspected the ongoing construction works of breach canal, nallah and deep drain. He asked the I&FC department to immediately remove the garbage from nallah and clog water from canal so that the ongoing construction works could be completed well before the start of rainy season
