| Khoda stresses jawans, devote themselves for public service | | 1239 jawans pass out from PTC Talwara | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, April 18: Stressing the crucial importance of training in enhancing professionalism, the Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda today said that an ambitious plan has been chalked out for conducting various advanced training courses for jawans and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Addressing the pass outs at Police Training Centre Talwara at a Pass Out-cum-Attestation function held today, Khoda said that other measures like modernization in respect of equipment and gadgets as also other aspects of investigations have been receiving high priority. The department has stead at par with the premier police agencies of the country and we are focussing to make JKP a model police force in the country.
He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has not only worked on forefront for the protection of life and property of the people in the times of unrest, but has also offered a helping hand to the needy people in the times of calamities and disasters. He said that the force taking militancy as a challenge, gave supreme sacrifices of its jawans and officers to bring peace and normalcy in the State. He also stressed upon the out going recruits to devote themselves for the service of the society and work for the integrity of the nation and keep the flag of the Organization afloat.
On the occasion, 1239 recruit constables took a solemn pledge to serve the nation and presented a colourful march past. The trainees have undergone a rigorous basic training course, besides they have been imparted training in different fields of policing which include use of lethal/non-lethal weapons, crowd controlling by using minimum force, VIP security, crime detection, map reading and human rights protection. While imparting trainings professional needs of police force in the present times have been kept in mind. The recruits belonged to various wings of police viz. Executive, Armed and IR police include 21 post-graduates and 337 graduates.
Khoda disclosed that STC Talwara has so far trained more than 9.000 jawans of JKP since its establishment besides imparting training to civil defence volunteers and forest protection force. A civil defence volunteer camp was organized in the Centre for better exposure to the trainees in disaster management and rescue operations. Special attention was focussed to inculcate a sense of reasoning among the trainees.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Additional Director General of Police, Armed/Law & Order, Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar said that the trainees also came with laurels for the Organization when they were deputed for maintaining the law and order in the valley and despite odd situations they performed well. He said that the trainees have been imparted training covering all areas of policing and special lecturers have been organized on protection of human rights and better police public relations.
Constable Javaid Ahmed, who was declared all round best on the occasion, was granted out of turn promotion and was decorated with the rank of Sgct by DGP on the spot. Constables Imtiyaz Ahmed, Arun Verma, Deepak Pancha, Shabir Hussain and Himat Sharma were also honoured with commendation certificates and cash rewards for their good performance during the training.
