Panthers Party condemns Seema’s burning | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 18: Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has condemned the killing of Seema Devi, who was allegedly burnt to death by her husband and sister-in-law. Senior JKNPP leaders led by their General Secretary Anita Thakur today visited Village Kothi-Morh, Bari Brahmana, residence of in-laws of Seema Devi but found the house locked. Several people in the neighborhood told the Panthers Party leaders that, Seema Devi who was married some years back was facing harassment by her in-laws. Anita Thakur demanded the judicial inquiry into the tragic incident and demanded that, law against domestic violence on female should be made applicable in Jammu and Kashmir as is applicable in the rest of the county. She said domestic violence has been condemned by women in particular and other people in general but the State Government has not cared to clear the law against domestic violence in spite of a Bill moved by Prof Bhim Singh has been pending for the past 4 years in the Legislative Council. The Selection Committee has cleared the Bill but the Congress and NC never cared to pass such a law which is the need for human rights of helpless and voiceless women folk in the State.
