JAMMU, Apr 18: A newly elected sarpanch fired in air at Bala Chak near Arnia here Sunday after election results were declared in his favour.
Police sources said soon after results for the sarpanch elections at polling booth Nos 46/5 and 47/5 at Bala Chak primary school were declared in favour of Kulbir Singh, he fired five rounds in the air from his weapon to celebrate his victory.Hearing the gunshots, Sudershan Singh, who had lost the election, fled the spot. He later alleged that Kulbir had fired at him.The Arnia police had registered a case in this connection. |
