JSM suggests dissolution of BJP state unit | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Apr 19: Reacting to the cross voting by the BJP legislature, Jammu state Morcha has said that the best course for the centre-leadership of BJP is to dissolve its state unit and disband it Virender Gupta and H.B. Khajuria, respectively the president and senior vice president of JSM gave this statement in the wake of NJP’s debacle over cross voting They said that rhe BJP MLA,s and its state leadership that is responsible for managing the cross voting in Legislative Council elections have committed heinous moral, social and political crime by betraying the people of Jammu region who bestowed their faith in BJP and given it the mandate in the last assembly elections to protect their rights and aspirations against the onslaught of Kashmiri leadership. The state –leadership should be allowed to float a regional Jammu based party to be headed by a person of integrity and unblemished image. This is necessary to counter and match with the Kashmir regional parties, and also by acknowledging the cultural diversity of three regions which have different social and political aspirations, exclusive of each other. If Jammu has to fight against the separates forces of the valley and get justice for it, Jammu based regional party is the need of the hour. This regional organization be allowed to frame its own agenda depending upon the needs and demands of the people of Jammu region and the BJP leadership at centre should back its activities as was the case when Praza Parishad was in existence. It must be noticed that state BJP with its long standing and the support from the centre failed to attach itself with the sentiments of the people and thus failed to emerge as a mass based organization. Its presence in the State Assembly remained quite feeble except for on one or two occasions.
