| Benia clinches Amar Nath Memorial dangal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, April 19: Silver medalist in All India Police Meet, Benia of Jammu and Kashmir Police lifted the 49th Pujari Amar Nath Memorial Maha Dangal outplaying Sukha of Rajasthan in the main bout that lasted for 21 minutes at Sports Stadium, Udhampur.
District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Bashir Ahmad Khan was chief guest in this day-long dangal, organized by Amar Nath Dangal Samiti and Mukti Youth Club Udhampur under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
Member State Sports Council and president of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the event. Senior Superintendent of Police, Surinder Gupta and chairman Shiv Parvati Shrine Development Board Moungri, Swantantar Dev Kotwal were guests of honour.
The title and cash prize of Rs 4500 was jointly presented to Benia by Shiv Kumar Sharma, Gita Devi, Swantantar Dev Kotwal. Runners-up, Sukha received Rs 3000 cash award from Pawan Gupta and Dhani Ram Atri.
In all, 37 bouts were played. In second main bout was by Kalu of Shiv Mandir Akhara Jammu beating Raju of Kapurthalla in Punjab while third bout went to Bobari of Jammu who beat Veera of Kapurthalla. The fourth main bout was bagged by Kaka of Namashar outplaying Akram of Jammu. Fifth bout was won by Rajesh Sharma of J&K Police beating Namam of Delhi.
Other Results: Shesh Kumar beat Ali, Yasheen beat Devinder, Jamat Ali beat Gurdev Singh, Makhan Din beat Billu, Subash Chander beat Kewal Krishan, Sat Paul beat Majeed, Sonu beat Ramesh Kumar, Devinder beat Kaka, Krishan beat Billu, Baboo beat Mangha, Prabhat Singh beat Sonu, Babu Din beat Vijay, Ajay beat Vijay and Dillar Khan beat Farooq. Bouts between Ajay and Yasheen and Bunty and Tirhtu as also Gopal and Jaswant and Vijay and Deepu ended in a draw.
