Governor for strict implementation of Reservation Policy | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, April 19: The Governor N. N. Vohra, has stressed the importance of ensuring that the Reservation Policy is implemented effectively and all the development and welfare schemes for the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other under-privileged sections of the society are efficiently and timely executed for ensuring their speedy empowerment. The Governor said this while he was interacting with a delegation of the All J&K Scheduled Caste Welfare Association which called on him at Raj Bhavan. The Governor noted that there was need for creating greater awareness about the various Central and State Government schemes for the socio-economic transformation of the neglected segments of the society so that they could optimally benefit from these. The Governor enquired from the deputation about the activities of the All J&K Scheduled Caste Welfare Association and gave them a cheque of Rs. 50,000 for carrying out its activities. The 11-member deputation led by the President of the Association, B. R. Kundal Advocate presented a Memorandum to the Governor highlighting their demands. These included, interalia, ensuring strict implementation of reservation rules for appointment of Scheduled Caste candidates as per roster, earmarking funds for the development of Scheduled Castes in proportion to their population and conducting afresh the survey of BPL families in the State.
