| ‘93 per cent population among KPs unemployed’ | | KP’s take strong note of CM’s ignorance about their problems | |
JAMMU NOV-16- Taking serious note of the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s ignorance about the growing unemployment amongst the Kashmir Hindus and their present representation in the State Administration, the KP leaders have alleged that the Chief Minister has overlooked the long and massive litigation the KPs have been continuously forced to resort to the redressal of their economic deprivations and widespread usurpation and unauthorized occupation of their houses, orchards, shopping complexes and business establishments. In their joint interaction with the media persons here today, the Chairman Panun Kashmir Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Dr M K Teng Chairman Advisory Committee, O N Trisal President AKPSC and Kuldeep Raina General Secretary Panun Kashmir said that the Chief Minister’s speech at the conclave organized by the Congress unit of displaced Kashmiris felt that the tone and tenor of his speech appears to be aimed at denying the reality of the economic deprivation to which KPs have been subjected to . ‘Saying that the speech reflects the state of affairs in the state government that even after 15 years , the relevant date of the human tragedy of religious cleansing was not available with the administration or it is that the government is deliberately trying to conceal the truth, these leaders added.. Claiming that out of 2. 65 lakh recruitments made in state service till Match last, only 345 KPs have been employed during the last 16 years. The number of KP employees was 11342 in 1989 out of more than two lakh employees in the Valley, besides 1059 in Central government departments and 832 in other PSUs taking the total to 12,500 only. These leaders said that the recent studies have revealed that the number of KP employees was just 4,000 against 12,500 prior to their exodus . ‘Saying that the problem of deprivation of the community is basically the continuation of genocide, these leaders alleged that the KPs are being denied their share because there is a concerted and ideologically motivated campaign to destroy any scope of their survival in the state and eventually their return to homeland’. The KP leaders felt that the immediate need was to declare an employment package for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits and annulment of all the distress sales, which have taken place in Kashmir Valley during the last 16 years. ‘Right to equality and Right to life’ has to be maintained and the Centre and the State Governments have to declare a ministry of rehabilitation for addressing the issues confronting the displaced Kashmiri Pandits, these leaders added.
