Army School wins by 8 wkts in U-16 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT AKHNOOR, April 20: Army School Akhnoor registered an emphatic eight-wicket win over St. Francis School to advance into the next round of ongoing under-16 cricket tournament, organised by Akhnoor Tehsil Cricket Committee at Government Higher Secondary School, here today. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, St. Francis bowled out for 111 runs in 16 overs, which, in reply, Army School chased in just 11 overs losing two wickets. Abhishek was top scorer with 20-ball 24 runs while Rohit and Dheeraj contributed 18 and 12 runs to the team’s total. From Army School, Rishav and Rohit took one wicket each. Batting second, Army School attained the goal in 11 overs making 112 runs with eight wickets in hand. Rajesh played match winning innings of 23-ball 39 runs, followed by Pankaj and Sandeep, who contributed 26 and 25 runs respectively. From St. Francis School, Rohit and Dheeraj shared one wicket each. For his match winning innings, Rajesh was declared man of the match. Today’s match was officiated by Rajinder Sharma and Vinod Kumar while Akash Gupta was scorer. This tournament is organised by Singh Cricket Club as part of talent hunt programme of the Jammu wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA).
