Police solves weapon- looting mystery, two VDC members held

Police has solved the mystery of looting weapons of Village Defence Committee Members by some unknown militants with the arrest of their two sympathizers while the search is on to apprehend the militants involved in looting as also those who are hand in glove with the anti-national elements.
A police hand out said that two VDC members Ghulam Mohammed and Ghuam Hussain who willfully accompanied the militants and later arrested by the Police have confessed to have handed over weapons to LeT militants willfully and managed to get the weapons of other members snatched by the militants.
According to the report on October 13 last at about 8.30PM some unknown militants came to village Garethar and reportedly took away four rifles of VDC members along with two VDC members Ram Lal and Shadi Lal who were later rescued by their associate VDC members immediately by repulsing the attack whereas the remaining two VDC members Ghulam Mohammed and Ghulam Hussain who accompanied the militants returned back on October 17.
A FIR NO156/2006 u/s 392 RPC, 7/27 AA in this regard was registered at Police Station Doda and investigation taken up.
Suspecting foul by the VDC members, the Police immediately constituted a team to establish the fact. The detained VDC members were put to sustained questioning during which it transpired that on the day of occurrence of the incident, some unknown militants came to village Tander and asked the VDC members Ghulam Mohammed and Ghulam Hussain to handover their arms along with ammunition and accompany them. Both the members handed over their one.303 rifle along with 100 rounds each to the militants without any resistance and accompanied them. The VDC members took the militants to VDC Duthan where VDC members namely Ram Lal, Shadi Lal and Bhagat Ram who were on duty asked he militants to stop for identification. On this, Ghulam Mohammed and Ghulam Hussain accompanying the militants told the other VDC members not to open the fire as they (militants) are from STF and on this one member Duthan allowed them to come nearer as a result the militants immediately snatched the rifles of VDC members Ram Lal and Shadi Lal along with 41 and 4 rounds respectively and tried to drag both along with them.
On noticing hue and cry raised by Ram Lal and Shadi Lal another VDC member Bhagat Ram opened fire as a result of which militants fled away from the spot along with four rifles and 248 rounds, leaving behind Ram Lal and Shadi Lal. However, the other two members Ghulam Mohammed and Ghulam Hussain accompanied the militants willfully and on their return after 4-5 days, both were apprehended by the Police and during interrogation confessed to have handed over weapons to LeT militants willfully. They are currently in lock up and efforts are on to apprehend the militants.
