Govt betrayed Anganwadi workers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 20: Anganwadi workers have alleged that Social Welfare Department (SWD) has betrayed the workers in the state, Jammu and Kashmir Anganwari Workers and Helpers Union (JKWHU) has decided to hold protest rally on April 25. Addressing a press conference, state president of the union Mohammad Gafoor Dar alleged that Director Social Welfare department has not fulfilled its commitment to announce promotion of the workers by April 20 who are working in the different Anganwari centres in the state and providing important role in rural and far- flung areas of different districts. “They have assured us that our demands would be accepted by April 20 but it seems they are again playing the delaying tactic to deny us our right. We have been left with no alternative but to come on roads”, Dar said. He further said that the department should hold Promotion Committee meeting to clear all the pending promotions of ICDS supervisors from Anganwari workers. “There is total discrimination as department has implemented the promotion policy for the supervisors in Kashmir valley but in Jammu region workers have been denied their due share. This is totally unjust”, he said. Union has said that ICDS project is running in the state for last 35 years, but workers have always being denied working benefits.. Those who were present in the press conference included, Renu Sharma, Savita Kakar, Champa Devi, Rajesh Kumar, Santosh Kumari and Aruna
