HC directs SIT to continue probe into Chopra family murder | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 20: High court judge, Justice J P Singh today directed special investigation team (SIT) of police to continue with its investigation into the Chopra family murder case. As deputy advocate general, who appeared for the state, sought more time to file state response to the petition, he directed the registry to list the case for consideration on April 27 and also directed SIT to continue with its probe into the case. Cement tycoon and contractor R B Chopra, his wife Madhu, daughter Saloni, servant Sonu and driver Jagan Nath were murdered at their Trikuta Nagar residence on September 18, 2006. In the petition filed by Chopra's son Puneet, he also sought quashment of the communication No Home/1/ISA/143/2006 dated February 25, 2011, addressed to secretary, union personal ministry, requesting him for a CBI probe into the incident. He sought direction to the respondents to allow SIT to complete investigation into the case expeditiously. Seeking further direction to SIT incharge, DIG Farooq Khan to periodically report progress of probe to high court, he submitted that the case investigation "may kindly be supervised by high court".
