J&K govt to come up with another master plan for Katra | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 20: The spadework on formulation of revised Master Plan for Katra town has begun and is set to be completed within stipulated time of five months to pave the way for developing the famous tourist town in a planned and futuristic manner. This was given out at a review meeting of officers chaired by Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand. The meeting was convened to review the progress of the project. Formation of Master Plan has been outsourced to faculty of Planning and Public Policy, CEPT University Ahmadabad, Gujrat, which is headed by Professor and Head Department of Housing Madhu Bharti, who gave power point presentation of the project in the meeting. Among others, Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Suresh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi P.K.Poli, Chief Town Planner, Aftikhar Hakeem, Chief Executive Officer, Katra Development Authority, Amerjeet Singh and Sahani, representative of Mata Vishno Devi Shrine Board participated in the meeting. Deputy Chief Minister said in view of the ever increasing tourist influx to Katra every year the plan should be formulated in such a manner as would cater to the future needs of the tourists as well as local population. Tara Chand stressed the need to prepare the Master Plan with minimum disturbance and dislocation of local population and public utilities. He asked the officers to extend every possible support to the team in the formulation of the plan. It was given out in the meeting that nearly one crore tourists have visited the place during last fiscal and the number is likely to increase this year.
