Teachers being made to do clerical jobs in Reasi | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 20: What could be more hilarious for the state education department when a teacher whose job was to teach and impart knowledge to the children have been forced to do a duty of clerk in many schools of Reasi district. Teacher’s attachment syndrome has become a major problem in educational institutions in several districts but the teachers being forced to work on administrative positions have emerged as a new phenomenon. According to the RTI report, the 40 teachers had been posted in different schools in Reasi but out of them 9 government teachers and a master have been attached in CEO office, Reasi and 10 teachers in Zonal Education Office (ZEO), 1 Rehabare-E-Taleem (ReT) and other teachers have been transferred as per their wishes. It is pertinent to mention here that the shortage of teachers and other staff members is a big problem here being faced by may schools but despite shortfall department attached the teacher as clerks instead of filling up the vacant administrative posts. According to sources, many of the teachers have used high approach and political connections to save themselves from performing their duties and enjoying the salaries without performing any work. They further said that due to carelessness of government, the schools are facing problem due to lack of staff, but many blue eyed boys have got themselves attached as per their wish, despite the fact that they have been transferred in the district to serve the students. Interestingly, this type of functioning is going on unabated and none of the officials have initiated steps to stop this practice. Sources maintained that as per the government norms the appointments made under Rehabare-e-Taleem (ReT) are not supposed to be transferred or can not even attached during its service in the education department, but neglecting these norms the higher officials are making transfers and attachments of these employees. When contacted Director School Education, Jammu Gulzar Qureshi said that the matter is not in his knowledge, now he will take action against the erring officials at the earliest.
