Peerzada, Bhalla inspect developmental works | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 20: Minister for School Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed and Minister for Revenue, Relief and Relief, Raman Bhalla on Wednesday visited the Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar and inspected the ongoing works on prestigious teachers’ Bhawan and state- of- art auditorium. The twin projects would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 12.80 crore on modern lines. Managing Director, Housing Board, Dalip Thusu, President Gandhi Nagar residents’ welfare association, L M Khajuria, Chairman Education Committee, Prof. Satesh Anand besides other senior officers of Housing Board accompanied the Ministers. Interacting with the locals, Sayeed said on completion of projects, the teachers and students will be facilitated in conducting extracurricular activities in a systematic manner and provide accommodation to the teachers of far off areas visiting the winter capital for official purposes. He informed that the 23175 sft area auditorium will have two floors with facilities of 500 persons seating capacity auditorium, 4 toilet blocks, dormitory, Guest room, TV room, dining hall, kitchen, provision of HVAC system, audio visual, PAS, genset, AVR of 300 KVA, kitchen, store, office, lounge including 3300 sq ft basement for organizing seminars and exhibitions. Responding to the demands of teacher fraternity, the Minister said Central Government has allocated Rs 60 crore under Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) for opening and upgrading of High and Higher Secondary Schools in every constituency of the State with latest infrastructural facilities. He said 69 schools would be upgraded under RMSA across the state adding that Rs. 58 lakh would be spent on construction of additional rooms and 15 lakh for science laboratories in each newly upgraded high and higher secondary school. He said Government has earmarked Rs. 25000 each for renovation of high school infrastructure and Rs. 50000 for Higher Secondary School infrastructure under RMSA. Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that government is making all out efforts to eradicate illiteracy from every nook and corner of the state by opening and upgrading of scores of new schools. He said that today Government institutions have well qualified selected staff and better infrastructure. He said the Government also provides scholarships, free uniforms and books to the children belonging to the weaker sections of the society.
