Lawrence Public School launches Save Tawi campaign | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 21: In order to mark the Earth Day celebrations the students of Lawrence Public School today started 'Save Tawi' campaign along with 'Celebrate Earth day, everyday' an appeal to the general masses. The students started the campaign by personally going up to the Tawi river banks where garbage had been dumped & started the clean up drive. Last year also the students of the school had presented an opera on Tawi river with the theme 'Save Tawi'. The students pledged to spread the message 'Celebrate Earth Day, everyday' to the people of Jammu. They also pledged to use recyclable products, reduce waste, replace traditional bulbs with CFL, plant native grass/shrubs/trees & reuse shopping bags. They had also prepared hand made paper bags which they distributed to the public appealing them to use it instead of poly bags. Later the students were informed that earth day is a day that is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earths natural environment. They were also informed that the Department of Environment & Remote Sensing, would be organizing a symposium in Lawrence Public School on April 23.
