Quiz contest organized at GGM Science College
Mangat stresses on imperativeness of IT awareness

Emphasizing on the imperativeness of IT awareness among young minds so as to attain heights, Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr Mangat Ram Sharma asserted on imparting computer education from early stage to enable them to compete in today's globalized era.The Minister was addressing the gathering at the Intercollegiate Quiz contest organized by GGM Science College here this morning which was organized by Computer Sciences Department of GGM Science College supported by Information Department, Jammu.Apprising about the role of IT in every sphere, Mr Sharma highlighted the efforts of government in promoting this vital sector so as to make computer education available to students right from primary level. He said utmost priority has been accorded to the sector with an objective to enable students to immediately get absorbed in reputed companies. Immediate placement and immense job awareness are also available for IT graduates, he added. Recalling his days in GGM Science College as a student, Mr Sharma reminded his teachers and the atmosphere of those days. He congratulated the students for having much advanced and modern infrastructure today. He said the students are comparatively much aware and enlightened on every subject.
Advising the students to maintain discipline and work with dedication to achieve their goal, Mr Sharma said that hard work means prosperity and students should resist from involving themselves in anti-social activities and they are the future of our nation who have to be moulded into right prospective. Mr Mangat Ram presented mementos to the former students of the college who had excelled in IT sector and are working in reputed companies.Prizes were also given to the winners of Quiz Contest GGM Science College bagged first prize, Government Degree College Kathua stood second while SPMR College clinched third the prize. The prizes were arranged by the Information Department, Jammu
Head of the department, Computer Sciences University of Jammu Mr Dev Anand Padha, HOD Computer Science GGM Science College Mrs Madhu Gupta, Principals of various colleges, professors were among those present on the occasion.
