Priyadarshni College students stage protest, accuse JU of shielding culprits | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 21:The affected students of Priyadarshni Institute of Management Sciences (PIMS) today alleged that Jammu University is trying to shield management of the college involved in recent ‘examination scandal’. They staged a protest outside the office of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Jammu University and demanded de-affiliation of the institution, here today. The agitating students also accused the University administration of shielding the culprits of fake scam. The students including girls staged a sit-in outside the VC office and chanted anti-varsity slogans. They alleged the management of the institution had played with their careers and they were allegedly threatened by the goons sponsored by the PIMS authorities to call off their agitation. A scholar from Department of Dogri in JU Sunil Sharma blamed the authorities for deliberately delaying the de-affiliation of the college. Registrar JU Prof P S Pathania accompanied by other senior officials also faced with an uncomfortable situation when the students leveled serious allegations vis-a-vis functioning of the University. Student’s dharna also affected the normal functioning of the VC secretariat for over two hours. They also appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene into the matter. Students later dispersed with a warning that they would intensify their agitation if the college was not de-affiliated.
