Dogra Certificate worries Omar | | | Early Times Report Jammu April 21: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah seems perturbed over the Dogra certificate issue which, according to experts, has the potential to disturb peace in the state. Reports said the Chief Minister during his meeting with the Union Home Minister raised the issue and requested P.Chidambaram to give relaxation to all the citizens of the state to ward off crisis. The matter was discussed during the cabinet meeting in Jammu on Wednesday but no decision could be taken because some of the Congress ministers from the Jammu region opposed any plan to revoke the procedure of issuing Dogra certificates. Meanwhile senior Army functionaries have made it clear that Dogra certificate was not a license for the holder to get jobs in the Army and the paramilitary forces. They said that such a certificate could simply allow a person to avail of height relaxation but ultimately the person or persons seeking recruitment in the Army and the Paramilitary forces have to face physical test and other tests. They said that if height relaxation was given to all the state subjects of Jammu and Kashmir it will not open job gates for all and sundry. A senior state Government officer, wishing to remain unidentified, said that the best course to come out of the controversy was to allow all the state subjects to get height relaxation.
