Academy releases monograph on Krishna Kumari | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 22: J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today released monograph on noted Dogri folk singer Krishna Kumari. Penned by noted litterateur, Ved Rahi the monograph chronicles different aspects of the professional life of the noted Dogri singer. Speaking on the occasion, Rahi said that the thing that motivated him to write a monograph on Kumari was the unassuming and flawless personality of the Dogri folk singer. Earlier in his welcome address secretary, Cultural Academy, Zafar Iqbal Manhas said that given the fact that Kumari was the face of Dogri folk the Academy would also compile a CD on the folk compositions of the Dogri singer in the days ahead. Speaking in her capacity as the chief guest noted writer, Dr Ved Ghai said that Kumari was one of the few Dogri singers who had popularised the culture of Duggar Desh through folk singing. While commenting on the monograph Krishna Kumari said that she was grateful to the Cultural Academy for writing a bio sketch on her and assured that she would continue to promote the folk traditions of Jammu through folk songs. As part of the function additional secretary, editorial, Dr. Gian Singh read a comprehensive paper on the monograph of Krishna Kumari. Before winding up the programme additional secretary, Cultural Academy, Savita Bakshi presented the vote of thanks while senior editor, Hindi, Neeru Sharma conducted the programme proceedings.
