JAMMU, April 22: Title holder Nitin Sharma shall take on Gagandeep Singh to retain the junior snooker title in the ongoing Jammu District Open Billiards and Snooker Championship at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the semi-finals, played today, Nitin had easy sailing over his opponent, while Gagandeep underwent a tough contest against Sourab Kumar.
Young Gagandeep fought from behind to make it a 3-2 win against an equally good opponent. Down by two frames 13-61, 33-56, Gagandeep controlled his nerves to take on his over confident opponent and clinched three consecutive frames to take away the thriller 3-2. The score: 13-61, 33-56, 57-30, 58-37, 67-35.
On the other hand, Nitin won the semifinal in straight easy frames against Sachin Bamba, who failed to show any resistance. The score: 65-22, 59-06, 50-36.
The final of junior snooker shall be played on a later date. Meanwhile, the first round of senior snooker event shall start tomorrow.
