Gujjars condemn non-release of funds for tribal devp | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 22: Jammu and Kashmir Gujjars United Front has strongly condemned the State Government for not releasing funds for development of tribal community during past three years. Addressing a press conference front president Shah Mohammad Chowdhary said that due to this no developmental activity has been started in the tribal belts which are the worst sufferers of the neglect. Choudhary while referring to various directions issued by the Planning Commission said that the Government has not earmarked the funds out of approved annual plan in accordance with the percentage of population of tribes in the state. “It is totally unjustified and denial of basic rights to the community”, he said. Front has alleged that in 2009, an order for preparation of district plan was issued by the Financial Commissioner, Planning and Development department in the state to work out the SC/ST sub-plan in accordance with percentage of their population but no separate plan has been prepared by the respective District Development Commissioners. Choudhary said that as per the Economic Survey, 42.5 per cent STs are living below poverty line and more than 200 Mobile Schools are without any buildings and other infrastructure. Front demanded proper implementation of reservation rules in the state particularly in the recruitment of Anganwadi workers, Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers, Rehbar-e-Zarat and Rehbar-e-Sehat. He also demanded strengthening, up-gradation of mobile schools, construction of hostels in the newly created districts so that youth belonging to the community are able to take its benefits. Meanwhile front has elevated Mohammad Anwar Chowdhary, former president and Sajad Majid Chechi founder president of the front as its patrons in appreciation of the services rendered by them for the welfare of the community.
