Interlocutors rule out trifurcation | | | Early Times Report Srinagar,April 22: Ruling out trifurcation of the state, New Delhi’s nominated interlocutors on Jammu Kashmir are ready with their recommendations. The interlocutors were appointed last year in October by the Prime Minister. The interlocutors are likely to recommend greater autonomy for Jammu Kashmir. The interlocutors said there was no consensus between the regions and even different communities had different aspirations. “The big job therefore is to maintain the unity and territorial integrity of the state”, said Padgoanker who heads the three member team of interlocutors. Other members are Radha Kumar and MM Ansari. The panel is likely to reflect the pre-1953 special status to the state in their report, and are wary of consistent friction between the three regions - Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. "We met a huge number of parties. The thing is there are some five reports already with us. There are areas of confluence and there are areas of differences. Our job is to try and build on the areas of confluence that is what we will do and what will reflect in interim report which we will soon present to the Government," Padgoankar added. The interlocutoirs will also seek reopening of traditional routes between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, introduce more bus routes across the Line of Control, ease up on troop concentration and release detainees. The last move is in order to get the separatists join the dialogue process.
