Rs. 300 cr projects in Gandhi Nagar soon: Bhalla

Jammu, Apr 22: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla today said the Government has prepared a comprehensive project of Rs. 300 crore under ADB funding for construction of Bikram Chowk- Satwari flyover, upgradation of Landoi-Choi nalllah and digging of tube wells across Ghandnagar, adding execution on these prestigious projects would start soon after completion of requisite formalities.
This was disclosed by the Minister while addressing a large gathering at a function, organized by Circular Road Traders Association at Channi Himmat, here today.
Bhalla said several measures have been taken to avoid traffic snarls on roads to facilitate the people, adding flyovers worth crores are being constructed across the State. For facilitating the people of Channi Himmat, Channi Bija, Channi Kamala and Channi Rama, an underway bridge has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.17 crore near cremation ground, which has brought much relief to the people. This has facilitated normal plying of pedestrian and vehicular traffic during chugging of trains at the crossing, he said.
The Minister said 70 percent roads have been upgraded and blacktopped in Channi area, adding the left over would also be blacktopped by September this year. He said Government has earmarked Rs. 30 lakh for construction of playfield and establishment of science laboratory in Government Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat also.
For improving the drinking water facilities in Channi Himmat and its adjoining areas, Mr. Bhalla said one lakh gallon discharge capacity tube well is nearing completion at Dilli village, adding the tube well would be dedicated to the people within a fortnight.
He said for boosting the drinking water facilities in Bahu Fort, Gandhi Nagar, Narwal, Sunjwan, Bathindi and Channi Himmat areas, the Government has commissioned 18 lakh gallon discharge capacity Boria intake plant at a cost of Rs. 8 crore which is being constructed on the right bank of river Tawi near Harki Poodi temple.
The Minister said the Government is planning to establish a separate Niabat in Channi Himmat for solving the revenue related issues of the people at their doorsteps expeditiously. He said Government has sanctioned three transformers to augment power supply during summer in the locality.
