Shah demands special session on Lokayukta | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, April 22: The senior vice president of Awami National Conference Muzafar Shah along with his dozens of associates was detained by the police on Friday when they were protesting against rising corruption in the state. They were detained in Police Station Kothibagh. Shah said, “We will launch a movement against corruption at district level soon. Our state has achieved dubious distinction of being number two state in corruption and government is sleeping over the issue.” He appealed the people to come forward and join his movement against the evil. Shah also demanded a special session of Assembly to discuss the issue of corruption. “I request the Governor to summon a special session of the legislature so that legislation can be passed to set up a body on the lines of Lokayukta,” Shah said. He said there should be no hesitation among the legislators to support the bill as it would bring accountability among politicians, bureaucrats and other people in public life.
