World Book & Copy Right Day celebrated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 23: S.R. Public School celebrated World Book & Copy Right Day by organising a function within the school premises in which staff & students took active part. The function began with a prayer, followed by introductory remarks by Kiran Raina, in which she highlighted the importance of books for students & teachers. She said that the dream of the present day humanity of achieving peace, prosperity, tolerance, and solidarity is possible only through books. The knowledge and the respect of human values, the man has gained through ages can be shared globally only through books. She further said that India has been one of the pioneering countries where books have been written as early as 1,000 to 1500 B.C that is Vedas and the first book published in the West was in March 1830 by Joseph Junior. The Students of the School namely Himanshu & Anshika also spoke on the importance of the book by presenting their papers and adduced their fellow students, to promote the habit of reading among themselves. In his speech the chief guest M.K Raina, formerly Head P.G. Deptt. of Zoology University of Kashmir said that this day is celebrated throughout the world in which UNESCO, seeks to promote, reading, publishing and protection of intellectual property through Copy Right. He exhorted the students that they should inculcate the habit of reading books and also develop the habit of collection of books to build their own personal libraries.
