Kathak dance develops mind, uplifts spirit:Bhalla

JAMMU, APRIL 23-The Nami Dogri Sanstha in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on Saturday evening staged Kathak Dance show put up by disciples of Nritya Guru Vishwanath Kohli at Abhinab theatre, here.
Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla was the Chief Guest while Inspector General of Police, Traffic Mr. K K Lohia presided over the function.
Addressing a large audience, Mr. Bhalla appreciated the performance of young artists and lauded the efforts of Nami Dogri Sanstha for organizing such type of functions aimed at propagation of art and culture. He complemented the budding artists for putting up a scintillating show.
Mr. Bhalla asked the artists to strive for developing culture and heritage of the State through performances. He asked the Kathak lovers to keep up with the art, which he said helps to maintain physical, mental and spiritual health. He said Kathak dance is popular art in many parts of the country as it develops mind and uplifts spirit.
Additional Secretary, J&K Art, Culture and Languages, Mrs. Savita Bakshi, Chairman Educational Trust, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Sr. Advocate and Urdu Writer, Mr. S S Ananad Lehar, President Nami Dogri Sanstha, Mr. Harish Kaila besides Kathan dance lovers, eminent personalities and students of Kathak Kendra were present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Minister also visited Preet Nagar, Digiana and took stock of fire incident caused due to short circuit.
The District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Sanjeev Verma and other revenue officers accompanied the Minister.
Mr. Bhalla asked the revenue officers to account for losses so that the financial assistance could be disbursed through Red Cross Society and Revenue Department under norms.
