Earth Day celebration in Army School Kaluchak

JAMMU, Apr 23: Army School Kaluchak celebrated Earth day today by organising special assembly was organized by Eco Club of the school in which students presented facts regarding environment.
A group song on the theme ‘save trees’ was presented by school choir. Green batches were distributed among students and teachers of the school. Quiz on the theme ‘Go Green’ was also held in the morning assembly. An oath was taken to save the mother earth. Speaking on the occasion, School principal Ramesh T.R while appreciating the work done by the students of the school, called upon them to do their bit to save mother earth.
Meanwhile, in order to make “A Billion Acts of Green” successful, Environmental Club of Handa College of Education jointly with Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School celebrated 41st World earth Day today. Managing Director of the college Dr. Vikram Handa, Director of the college Gurpreet Handa chaired the first session. In the first session, painting and slogan competition was organised.
Students of the College and TTHSS depicted themes by paintings on water conservation, energy conservation, waste management, biodiversity, culture and heritage and wrote the slogans in order to generate awareness among the masses. The results were declared by the Principal of the collage Prof. Phoola Chowdhary. The students who stood first and second in the slogan competition were Abdul Saleem and Hardeep Singh and 3rd position was bagged by Tariq. Consolation prizes were given to Heena Sheikh and Ranjan Bharti.
Navneet, Tanu manhas and Mehak Iqbal from TTHSS stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in poster making competition. In the 2nd session, a joint rally of staff and students flagged off by Mr. Deepak Handa Director of the college. The rally including teachers and students was taken out from Sainik colony to kunjwani with playcards in their hands generating awareness among the common masses to create environmentally safe society.
