| Lumberdars, Chowkidars to help in Panchayat elections | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Apr 23: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban Shabir Ahmad Bhat today convened a meeting of Lumberdars and Chowkidars of Tehsil Ramban.
130 Lumberdars and 88 Chowkidars attended the meeting at New Conference Hall, Maitra Ramban. The meeting, among others, was also attended by Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary and Gandhrab Singh. Lumberdars and Chowkidars were made aware of their duties. Deputy Commissioner laid stress on these functionaries to work in an impartial way in the ensuing Panchayat Elections in the district to help District Administration to conduct election in a free and fair manner.
They were also asked to co-ordinate various sports and cultural activities at village level by engaging youth in different activities like organizing traditional village sports like Wrestling, Kabaddi etc. Deputy Commissioner also directed the Lumberdars and Chowkidars to provide necessary feedback regarding functioning of various departments in their areas.
