| Ansari issue may split moderate APHC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, April 23 : Senior separatist leaders may intervene to save the moderate Hurriyat Conference from virtual split. The conglomerate faces danger of split following Moulana Abbas ansari’s meeting with the interlocutors. Ansari has been suspended from the amalgam. A final decision on his membership is expected Monday when the executive Council meets.
Former chairman, Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat said the suspension order could be revoked if Ansari gives a satisfactory answer to the show cause notice served on him. Bhat also accuses Ansari of defying the amalgam’s decision. He said the APHC had taken a decision not to meet the interlocutors even if they knock at the doors of the leaders.
However, the seniors have urged the chairman to take a lenient view of the issue to ensure unity of the conglomerate. Another development that threatens the amalgam is the truce worked out between Lone brothers Sajad Lone and Bilal Lone. Both are considered moderates and are close to Yasin Mailk, Abbas Ansari and Abdul Gani Bhat.
People close to Mirwaiz Hurriyat do not rule out fresh grouping of moderates if Mirwaiz takes a severe decision on Ansari’s membership.
