Panchayat records torched at Langate

Srinagar Apr 23 : The Panchayat elections received a major bllow today when `miscreants’ torched the Panchayat records of Langate block. The area is going to polls on May 4.
According to reports, during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, some youths entered Government Middle School, Galoora and set the Panchayat records on fire.
Pertinently, a few days back, the ‘Panchayat Ghar’ located in the same village, was set on fire by unknown persons.
Talking to media persons, Superintendent of Police, Handwara, Choudry Aslam said that police have started investigation and soon the miscreants will be booked.
"Some miscreants have entered into the school building and took away the Panchayat records, including nomination papers of the contestants, and we will surely nab them as soon as possible," Aslam said.
