| Governor visits Muthi camp | | 5242 tenements being constructed for migrants | | JAMMU, NOV 17 Governor Lt. General (Retd) S K Sinha today took stock of the progress on 2-room tenements being constructed for Kashmiri migrants in the periphery of Jammu. He visited the construction sites for Group A and B blocks of 128 dwelling units each at Muthi and discussed with the officers about their status and likely time from of completion. General Sinha called for expeditious completion of these tenements for shifting the first batch of migrants early next year. The Governor went round various blocks. Each tenement comprises a bed room, a living, a kitchen, a toilet and a balcony. Relief Commissioner, Mr Mohinder Singh and engineers informed the Governor that notwithstanding the delay, the tenements in Muthi camp would be ready early next year and in other camps a few months later. In all, 5242 two-room tenements are being constructed in different camps in three years at a total cost of Rs 184.72 crore. On the occasion, a large number of Kashmiri migrants were present in the camp. The Governor was given a detailed briefing by the engineers about the project. The three blocks in Muthi will cost about Rs 11 crores. So far Rs 4.54 crore have been spent on these. General Sinha had visited the camp on April 27 this year to take stock of the progress on construction.
