| Tarigami chair Assurance Committee meeting | | |

A meeting of Assurance Committee was held in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Lobby, here on Thursday under the chairmanship of Mr. M.Y. Tarigami, to discuss the implementation of various assurances held out by the Government pertaining to Power Development Department.
The meeting was attended by Hon’ble members Mr. M. S. Akhoon, MLA, Mr. Raman Bhalla, MLA and Mr. Gharu Ram, MLA. The Power Development Department was represented by the Principal Secretary to Government PDD, Mr. Madhav Lal, Development Commissioner Power, Mr. Showkat R. Wani, Managing Director, Power Development Corporation, Mr. S.Kumar, Chief Engineer, M&RE Jammu, Mr. D.S.Pawar, Chief Engineer, S&O, Kashmir Mr. Ab. Rashid, Chief Engineer S&O Jammu Mr. R.K. Seli, Chief Engineer Planning and Designs S.Shemsher Singh, besides other senior officers. The Additional Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Mr. M. Ramzan was also present in the meeting.
The Committee emphasized the need for an early and time bound implementation of Government Assurance and commitments and impressed upon the departmental officers to come up to the expectations of the general masses and ensure absolute transparency and accountability at the ground level. The Committee also sought a detailed report on the overall functioning of the Power Department. The department was directed by the Committee to submit the detailed information to the Assembly Secretariat within a period of 15 days so that the same is examined by it in its future meetings.
In the beginning the Chairman apprised the Committee about the decisions taken in the one day conference of the Chairman of the Assurance Committee of all the State Legislatures organized by the Hon’ble Chairman Assurance Committee Lok Sabha and presided over by the Hon’ble Speaker Lok Sabha on 31st October, 2006. |
