Concerned over the mismanagement at Zorawar Singh auditorium during the cultural programme, in which number of foreign artists were taking part, Omar repeatedly tendered apology to the performers who had come from nearly six countries. "The Government has also failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people but he never tendered such an apology before the poor masses. But only expressed the concern before 10 odd foreigners, said one of the students present in the function. The event 'Silk Route' organised by Kashmirink Foundation exposed the failure of Jammu University as there was a major fault in the sound system in the multi-crore Zorawar Singh auditorium. "Today's mismanagement is totally unforgettable. I am not going to spend crores of rupees in building auditoriums which cannot deliver", said Omar. "I tender my apology to the artists, but it is unfortunate for no fault of there, they were not able to perform. Our sincerest apology to them", he said. The Dean Academic Affairs Prof RD Sharma, Auditorium Administrator Dr DL Choudhary, ASC Assistant Director, DSW PRO Vinay Thussu were seen running helter and skelter to put the things back on track, but returned empty handed. Even, the wife of Vice Chancellor, Sylvia Sahni appeared nervous on the occasion as Vice Chancellor himself was not present on the occasion. The event was sponsored by Tourism Department and apart from Chief Minister, Minister for Tourism Rigzin Jora, Political Advisor to CM, Devinder Singh Rana and MoS Tourism Nasir Aslam Wani were present on the occasion. Earlier performers from Bulgaria, South Africa and United States could not perform as the entire music and sound system had a major fault. While organisers and technical teams of the multi crore- state of the art auditorium were unaware of the problem in the system, most of the performers were on stage quite astonished by the mess in the hall. |
