| Intensify drive against black marketers- Taj to CAPD | | | JAMMU, NOV 17 Taking serious note of uncalled for hike in prices of essential commodities by some traders in Jammu. Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din asked CAPD to intensify the drive of market checking in all areas of the division and book the black marketers and profiteers under law. The Minister was reviewing stock and supply position of essential commodities in an officers meeting here today. Director CAPD and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting. The Minister was apprised that sufficient stocks of essential commodities are available in all areas of the division and special checking squads have been constituted to check and control the rates of the commodities. The Minister said that the government is committed to provide necessary essentials on reasonable rates to the consumers at their doorsteps and in this connection various steps have been taken to provide the same to the people. He said that hundreds of food godowns have been constructed in far-flung areas and new sale centers have been opened due to which several thousand educated unemployed youth have been provided employment. He directed the officers to ensure the dispatch of regular supply of essentials in remote areas and also directed for ensuring display of rate lists of the essential in their shops, so that people would not be deceived by the profiteers. |
