Prof Gupta's fresh salvo: 'NC-BJP nexus' to help restore pre 1953 position ' I continue to be leader of all 11 MLAs…..Jugal is Deputy leader' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 23: In a fresh salvo aimed at defending himself, veteran BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today bluntly hinted at nexus of some BJP leaders with NC was the main cause which led to cross voting on April 13. He said this collusion of 'insiders with outsiders' is getting strong to weaken BJP in order to enable NC restore pre 1953 position and autonomy in J&K .Contending he had not received any notice from the high command, Prof Gupta asserted that he continues to be leader of the all 11 MLAs and Legislative Party and Jugal Kishore is the Deputy leader in the House. Ridiculing the criteria party high command used in identifying guilty in cross voting, Prof Gupta said he too was ready for brain mapping test to prove his innocence. "Some external forces in connivance with insiders are trying to damage, defame and weaken BJP…..this is gaining strength also in the wake of fact that interlocutors are submitting their report with focus on restoration of pre 53 position in the state", Prof Gupta said, albeit without naming anyone. The question about genuineness and fairness of the parameters were once again raised today by the seniormost leader of the party who alleged whatever party had done was not transparent and based on rationality. What appeared to make his point stronger is the claim that he has not yet received any notice from the high command and therefore it was not needed to explain anything from his side. "I have not received any show cause notice till date nor any notice or any information about the suspension decision….it is only through media I have come to know my name in the shortlisted 7 having indulged in cross voting", Prof Gupta said while addressing media here today. " It has come as a shock as the national president had assured he would seek EC help as to determine who were the guilty MLAs. ....." he said the grouse being judicious view should have been taken in the identification process. Even as he described the cross voting as unfortunate which has maligned the party, the senior leader of the party claimed he had voted in favour of the party candidate. He also dwelt in detail some historical instances so as to convey that his commitment towards the party is as strong as ever , while elaborating the accounts of his age old association with the party. Prof Gupta who has been removed as leader of Legislative Party in the Assembly claimed this action too carries no weight as it were the legislators who choose their leader in the House. " I shall wait and not respond or react till I get anything in writing…..I continue to be leader of all 11 MLAs till they come with vote of no confidence", he asserted. The BJP leader also asserted that he was willing to undergo any test including brain mapping test in the matter. Two suspended legislators of the BJP out of seven have already said that they were ready to undergo a 'Narco Test' and 'brain-mapping' provided the party decides so for all 11 MLAs. Prof Gupta maintained that parameters and criteria needed to be transparent and high command should not come out with any decision in haste. |
