Bagh-e-Bahu Club enters QFs of Akhnoor Cup | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT AKHNOOR, April 24: A thrilling last ball victory by Bagh-e-Bahu Cricket Club today guided the side to quarterfinals of the ongoing Akhnoor Cup Cricket Tournament, organised by Vishwa Bandhu Cricket Club at Government Higher Secondary School, here. In the pre-quarterfinal, Bagh-e-Bahu defeated Gorkha Cricket Club by two wickets. Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, Gorkha Cricket Club scored a good total of 146 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. Kunal 35 (5x4 1x6), Rohit 31 (2x4 1x6) and Nikhil 30 (4x4 1x6) were the main scorers. From Bagh-e-Bahu, Kamal and Kalu scalped 2 wickets each while Ganpat claimed one.In reply, Bagh-e-Bahu Cricket Club scripted a thrilling victory on the last delivery of the innings with two wickets in hand. The pair of Puneet and Raju held their nerves and batted sensibly in the last over bowled by Rahul and took their team to home without any further damage. Scores were leveled on the penultimate ball. The team needed one run from the last delivery when Puneet struck a handsome boundary to help his side enter quarterfinals. Tony was the top scorer with 39 runs while Nasir and Ganpat contributed 29 and 17 runs respectively. Sagar was the pick of the bowlers from Gorkha Club, who took three wickets while Sunny bagged two. Tony was adjudged man of the match for his innings of 39 runs. The match was officiated by Joginder Singh and Suresh as umpires while Tilka was scorer.
