Gujjars seek re-verification of all ST Certificates issued after 90 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, April24: Seeking immediate help from higher authorities of Jammu and Kashmir to identify a big racket involved in issuing of fraud Scheduled Tribe (ST) Certificates in favour of non-tribes, the Gujjars – a main ST community of the State today demanded re-verification of all Reservation Certificates under tribal category issued during last twenty year of turmoil. The community through -Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation –a main organisation of tribe, issued an appeal to all head of the Government departments urging them to conduct secret re-verifications of all Scheduled Tribe Certificates submitted to them by their employees at the time of securing jobs or promotions since 1990. Dr. Javaid Rahi Secretary Tribal Foundation in a statement said here that this is really a serious matter for all 12 tribes of J&K that a non tribal are getting ST certificates by using money as tool. He asked the community members to keep Foundation informed about the issuance of fraudulent Gujjar/Bakerwal /ST Certificate. He appreciated the efforts of State Gujjar Board where under recently the board with the help of community have identified 98 certificates of Schedule Tribe in the Valley fraudulently issued by Tehsil offices including 15 such certificates had been issued in district Baramulla, 48 in Anantnag, 15 in Pulwama, 16 in Budgam and five in Kulgam. “There are identified Schedule Tribe communities, and their sub casts are also known to all revue officials but racket is working against us, Said Dr Rahi. Quoting a pre-final list issued by State Services Selection Board J&K inviting total 80 candidates from Srinagar district for interview under reserve ST Category but it is unfortunate that out of total around 50 candidates are non Tribal like Lachi, Banday, Dar, Bhat, Bakshi, Najar, Zargar etc.
