4/24/2011 10:08:21 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, April 24: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today demanded CBI probe into the Cash for Vote scam and charged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with purchasing BJP MLAs in exchange of huge amount.
Addressing a protest rally which was organized by the party to expose State Government in the Cash for Vote scam, PDP leaders pointed out that BJP leadership has already taken action against its MLAs who were allegedly involved in voting in favour of National Conference candidate in the recently held Legislative Council elections. They said that action of the BJP leadership has authenticated the allegations that Government has spent huge amount for purchasing MLAs to ensure victory of its candidates in the Legislative Council elections.
Coming down heavily on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for not proceeding further in this case, PDP workers asserted they would expose State Government in this whole scam. They said that State Government especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah can not escape from his responsibility. They said that those involved in purchasing MLAs were equally responsible like those who have violated their party whips and voted in favour of coalition candidates. They further demanded that deal between erring BJP MLAs and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should be made public.
Earlier PDP activists took out a rally which started from Vijay Park and passed through different areas before culminating at Nai Basti where party activists blocked high way for quite some time. Shouting slogans against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for indulging into corrupt practices, PDP workers said that Omar Abdullah has himself encouraging corruption in the State.
