| Environment day and Earth Day celebrated in MIER | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, April 25: Model Academy, MIER today celebrated Environment Day and Earth Day at both its branches of the B.C Road and Residency Road with full zeal & enthusiasm.
Dr. Adit Gupta Joint Director MIER along with Principal Mrs Rupa Gupta, Vice Principal Mrs. Usha Gadoo and Mrs. Gayatri Kotwal (co-ordinator) were present on the occasion.
About 200 students took part in the various activities. The day started with an environmental awareness initiative wherein the students were given information about various aspects of environment preservation and conservation.
This was followed by three main events. In the first event the students of the junior school participated in an activity for utilization of waste material. The second activity in which the senior students participated was an Inter-house Slogan Writing competition on various environmental themes. Thirdly, a large number of students from both the schools came together and planted over 100 saplings and plants of various varieties in the school campus thereby spreading the message of ‘ GO GREEN’ in a big way.
The students of Humming Buds- the pre school also celebrated this day by visiting Rajinder Park. The students planted saplings and collected Garbage from the park.
