City Kings, AS Akhnoor wins in U-16 cricket

EARLY TIMES REPORT
AKHNOOR, April 25: City Kings and Army School (AS) Akhnoor won their respective matches to consolidate their position in the ongoing under-16 cricket tournament under the banner of Akhnoor Tehsil Cricket Committee at Government Higher Secondary School, here today.
In the first match of the day, City Kings trounced Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) No. 2 by a comfortable margin of 42 runs.
Batting first, City Kings made 135 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Ali was top scorer with 24 runs while Amarjit and Ankush contributed 18 and 13 runs respectively. From KV-2, Rajat, Sahil, Vishal and Ajay took one wicket each.
Later, chasing the target, KV-2 bowled out for 92 runs in 11 overs. Yugraj played fine innings of 17-ball 26 while no other batsman could touch the double figure mark. Shallu, Vicky and Manish were successful bowlers with two wickets each.
Ali was adjudged man of the match for his superb batting.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Army School defeated St. Francis School by three wickets.
Earlier, batting first, St. Francis lost all their wickets for 90 runs in 13 overs. Hethen batted well contributing 25 runs. From Army School, Rajesh was most successful bowler with three wickets while Pankaj, Mohit and Sandeep shared apiece each.
Later, Army School attained the goal in 15.1 overs losing seven wickets. Yougal (17), Arun (18) and Pankaj (13) were main scorers. Hitesh and Manish claimed three and two wickets respectively from St Francis School. Arun was declared man of the match for his eight-ball 18 runs contributions.
