Dy CM promises press colony for working journalists | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 25: Jammu Journalists Housing Cooperative Society (JJHCS) today called on Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand to discuss demand of press colony for the Journalists working in Jammu. Led by its president Ravinder Singh, the members of the society sought attention of the Deputy Chief Minister towards their demand and said that the society had already taken up demands of press colony with the concerning quarters including him and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had assured that government will provide land for press colony for Journalists of Jammu soon. He apprised Deputy Chief Minister that since he assured society that their demand should be considered, now the Journalists fraternity is pinning high hopes on the coalition government and hoped that the demand will be taken up on priority. Members said that at present no housing colony is being developed either by JDA or by Housing Board in Jammu Province so their demand is genuine should be considered at the earliest, as per existing policy (Housing Policy 2004) and norms. The Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, who is also holding the charge of Housing and Urban Development gave patience hearing to the members of the society and said that he is very much concerned with their demand of press colony and the concerning department is working in the connection and soon the Jammu journalists will get press colony. Deputation comprised of Adarsh Pal Gupta, Afzal Shah, Banarsi Dutt Sharma, Dinesh Mahajan, Vinod Kumar, Rajesh Bali, Surjit Singh and others.
