Welfare of martyrs’ families priority of JKP: Khoda | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 25: Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda today sanctioned over Rs. 6 lakhs scholarship in favour of 217 school going children of personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Wards include children of those police personnel, who laid down their lives while protecting public property and human lives. Scholarships have also been sanctioned in favour of meritorious wards who secured distinction in 8th class examination during the academic session (2009-2010). The scholarships were announced by Director General of Police after chairing a meeting of Executive Body of Police Parivar Fund, held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) here today. Addressing the meeting, the DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been fighting the menace of terrorism for over two decades during which a large number of brave janwans and officers laid down their precious lives. It was due to their supreme sacrifices that the security situation in the State has shown great improvement bringing down the sufferings of people in the backdrop of violence unleashed by the terrorists have come down, said Khoda. Giving details, Khoda said that over Rs. 5.60 lakhs have been sanctioned in favour of 159 children of police personnel who have sacrificed their lives while fighting militancy in the State and also more than Rs. 0.48 lakhs in favour of 58 meritorious wards of serving police personnel.
