Niyas to begin unofficial Yatra registration from May 1

JAMMU, Apr 25: BABA Yatri Niyas today announced its fresh programme against the decision of Shri Amarnath Yatra Board (SASB) of delaying Amarnath Yatra by 15 days.
Announcing this in a press conference here today, President BABA Yatri Niyas Surinder Mohan Aggarwal said that despite expressing serious concern over the curtailment of Yatra and submitting collected signatures to the Governor N.N.Vohra through his principal secretary R K Goal who is also the CEO of SASB, board has decided against changing its decision.
Aggarwal said that they are left with no other option but to launch protest programme. While taking a dig at the resent statements of SASB in which they have quoted Nitesh Sen Gupta Committee report, which has recommended the duration of the yatra should be around 30 days, Aggarwal disclosed that BABA Yatri Niyas in its meeting has decided to
form committees upto block level and open registration offices for making the registrations of pilgrims for this yatra upto Tehsil level.
They added that the process of forming these committees shall start from today and conclude on April 30. He added that the registration for this year’s Amarnath Yatra at
various registration centres shall start from May 1 and Niyas has also decided to launch various programmes like public meetings, havan yagya etc at block level to mobilize public for visiting Shri Amarnath Shrine from May 1 to May 15 besides a seminar shall be held on May 15 in which people from all political parties and civil society shall be invited to share their view point over this issue.
