180 join BSF family after 42 week rigorous training in Kashmir

Srinagar, 26 : Joyous moments were witnessed when 180 trained constable formally joined the Border Security Force (BSF) family, taking oath to serve the motherland, here today.
After going through 42-week-long rigorous basic training at BSF Subsidiary Training Centre (STC) at Humhama in central Kashmir district of Badgam, the constable joined a colourful Attestation-Cum-Passing Out Parade today.
Inspector General of BSF, Kashmir Frontier, Baljit Singh took salute at well turned out parade.
Addressing these new bordermen, Mr Singh congratulated them for the excellent parade and wished them good luck for future.
He also lauded the role of officers and training staff of STC in shaping these young men to shoulder the responsibility placed on them and rise to the expectation of the nation.
The recruits, hailing from different parts of the country, were in tears after joining the BSF family.
We feel proud to become member of the large BSF family, the recruits said who turned emotional.
Deputy Inspector General, who head the STC since January this year, said the recruits successfully completed 42 week basic training, involving physical fitness, weapon handling, map reading minor tactics, anti terrorism and insurgency operations.
He said they were also trained to respect the Human Rights to become a true borderman and carry on the legacy of excellence of the BSF.
The parade was commanded by recruit constable Prdeep Panwar.
The IGP gave away medals to Best Cadet to constable Ukade Kiran, best shot to constable Nikhil Goswami and best physical endurance to constable Mulnule Bhusshan.
STC was established on June 10,1990 to impart basic training to recruits and cater to the training needs of BSF in Kashmir, when the militancy was at its peak.
This centre has so far trained 9986 recruits since its inception, which included 1749 Kashmiri youths (including surrendered militants) who are now performing their duty in various parts of the country.
This training institution was also intrumental in providing relief to earthquake victims of Uri and Tangdhar sector in October 2005.
