Wrestling body hails Governor for Katra stadium | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 26: Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association today conveyed its gratitude to Governor, NN Vohra for laying foundation stone for much awaited Stadium at Katra. The Association president and member State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma termed decision of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board as fulfillment of a long pending demand of Katra people. “It was long due to the holy town of Katra, especially in view of annual international event of Indo-Pak dangal at the same piece of land that is allocated for the stadium, so we extend our thanks to first citizen of the State,” Shiv Kumar Sharma told SAN. However, the Association demand introduction of wrestling as one of the event at the proposed stadium along with other games. “Since Reasi and Udhampur districts, being hilly terrain, are full of wrestling talent, infrastructure for the indigenous game is need of the hour,” he suggested. The Association also complimented Governor for making it a time bound project that would be completed in next two years.
