Several delegations meet Governor

JAMMU, APRIL 26:
Several delegations called on the Governor, N N Vohra, at Raj Bhavan here today and presented Memoranda of their demands and grievances to him.
The demands presented by the 8-member delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party Kissan Morcha, J&K, led by its President, Karan Singh included, interalia, formulation of a new Agriculture Policy for promotion of agriculture and allied sectors in the State, timely availability of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other agricultural inputs to the farmers and releasing water in the canals in the last week of March every year.
Interacting with the delegation, the Governor emphasized the need for optimally benefiting from the latest technical know how in the farm sector and increased cultivation of high yielding variety seeds for increasing productivity and production. The Governor assured that he would take up these issues with the concerned authorities.
Another deputation, the Lok Vikas Dal from Udhampur, led by its President, Vikram Singh Slathia, met the Governor and discussed the modalities for utilisation of 122 kanals of land at Khoon which had been donated over a decade ago to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board by Des Raj Badyal, a social activist of Ramnagar.
The Governor asked his Principal Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Board, R. K. Goyal, to work out a feasible scheme for setting up a residential educational institution in the area to benefit the local people of Khoon and the adjoining localities at large.
A third deputation, of the All J&K Gaddi/Sippi Congress Cell, demanded representation to the Gaddi and Sippi tribes in the State Legislature, constitution of Advisory Board for Development of Gaddi/Sippi tribes.
The deputation was led by the President of the Cell, Dr Saril Singh Uttam.The Governor heard the delegation patiently and assured to write to the Government about the issues raised by them.
