ASCOMS celebrates annual day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, APRIL 26: Minister for Medical Education, R S Chib today said that with the establishment of new and upcoming health institutions, coupled with introduction of far reaching reforms at various levels, the Jammu and Kashmir is fast emerging as the hub of health care facilities. He said the development of twin AIIMS level super specialty hospitals one each at Jammu and Srinagar would prove a major stride in this direction.Speaking at the annual day celebration of Achariya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS), Chib said the state government has flagged the health as priority sector. He said supper specialty facilities for which the people had to go outside the state would be available locally thus providing great relief to the patients here. Highlighting the achievements of Health and Medical Education in the State recorded in last two years, the Minister said that the Government has launched a number of reformative programmes to better the healthcare and medical education. In this regard, a task force has also been constituted to further streamline the functioning of these vital sectors in the State. Lauding the role the prestigious health institutions like ASCOMS in catering to the health care needs of the people, the Minister emphasized the importance of encouraging establishment of more such specialized institutions in the state for the benefit of the people. The Minister appreciated the commendable performance of ASCOM in imparting quality medical education at its institution besides providing best diagnostic and treatment facilities to the people of the State. He hoped that the prestigious institution will continue to serve the society with same zeal and dedication.
