Infighting contractors, govt apathy, powerless MLA: story of Bantalab-Barnai road

JAMMU, Apr 26:
With two of the contractors fighting each other over who will work on the road on Bantalab-Barnai link road has almost stopped there by creating trouble for the local population.
Most of the roads in the area are in shambles despite the fact that government has sanctioned money to the respective departments. Sources said that both the contractors having political connection are using every tactic to get the work as it involves Rs 3.94 crore.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government has given project funds of Rs 3.94 crore for constructing Link road and also improve the drains in the area, but the entire plan has been delayed due to infighting between the contractors.
Sources said that the three kilometer link road of Bantalab to Barnai, taken up more than 8 month ago and expected to be completed by end of last year and also benefited to the locals masses of there. The road is connected with Bantalab to Barni and other joining areas.
He further said that the state government has given the tender to private contractor namely Kamal Nain Singh for made a road but the Kamal handover the project his junior contactor namely Sanjay Singh. He said that some misunderstanding was created with those contactors and Sanjay have stopped the work on the road project. Their personal enmity has left thousands of people in distress as the road has become a killer trap for them.
Upper Barnai Welfare committee, Chairman Seva Ram Dass said that we are facing a lot of problem for incomplete work of the road. He said that the work of the road had started on eighth month ago, but till time the work is uncompleted.
They also maintained that in rainy season this road is proved dangerous due to recurrent flood, passenger vehicle are facing problem for almost two month and it cause an accident.
When contacted, MLA Bodh Raj Bodhi said that we had sent a letter to government of India for providing the fund under Central Road Funding (CRF) and the centre government gave the funds to state government for the construction of that road.
He further said that at present construction of the road is under stay and the case between the two contractors is still going in the court.
